Lactic Acid is a member of the Alpha Hydroxy Acid group of chemicals* and is a close relative of Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Malic Acid and others.

Lactic acid peel vs glycolic acid peel
Lactic Acid produces very similar results as Glycolic Acid when applied to the skin in a properly formulated peel solution but as it is milder than Glycolic Acid it is less likely to provoke inflammation. Lactic acid may be less drying than glycolic acid as lactic acid is one of the natural moisturising factors (NMF) in our skin.

A lactic acid peel is safe to use at home when formulated correctly. The strength of the peel is determined by the concentration of lactic acid and the pH (the measurement of acidity) of the peel.

Lactic Acid Skin Benefits

Exfoliates dead skin cells from the surface leaving the skin softer, smoother, and brighter.

Encourages skin cell turnover and boosts collagen production
